Dr. Nathan Patterson embarked on his academic journey with a degree in chemistry from the prestigious Birmingham-Southern College in Alabama, graduating magna cum laude and earning a fellowship in the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. He advanced his medical education at the University of Alabama School of Medicine. Dr. Patterson's rigorous general surgery training began at Carraway Methodist Medical Center in Birmingham, AL, and concluded at the distinguished Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation in New Orleans, LA. He then honed his expertise in plastic surgery during his fellowship at the University of California, San Diego, collaborating with some of the world's leading plastic, head & neck, and maxillofacial surgeons.
As a board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Patterson is committed to excelling in his field. In 2004, Dr. Patterson moved to Pensacola, FL, and started his plastic surgery practice. After more than 15 years as a solo practitioner, Dr. Patterson joined his friends and colleagues, Dr. Peter Butler and Dr. Jocelyn Leveque, at Gulf Coast Plastic Surgery. Dr. Patterson has contributed immensely to making Gulf Coast Plastic Surgery one of the Southeast's premier plastic surgery practices.
Dr. Patterson holds professional memberships with several prestigious organizations, including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the Florida Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. Additionally, he is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), underscoring his dedication to providing the highest standards of care in plastic and reconstructive surgery.
Dr. Patterson values time with his family and friends outside his professional life. He and his wife, Kam, are actively involved in their son Pierce's numerous sports and extracurricular activities. Dr. Patterson's hobbies include boating, traveling, reading, and staying fit through regular exercise, which adds balance and joy to his life.

I lost well over a hundred pounds over the last couple of years. I had lots of loose skin and sagging. I met with Dr Patterson in late 2025. Felt super confident that he was the right doctor for me. I had a tummy tuck and breast lift with breast augmentation in January 2026. Recovery went great. I feel amazing! The whole practice is amazing. I love everyone who works there. I was honestly a bit sad when my post op visits were over lol. I missed seeing the girls every time I had a follow up. That’s never happened before! They’re all just so nice. They were absolutely wonderful. They took me in as an emergency patient. They had me in 10 minutes after somebody had made a phone call. They were very calm and friendly and informative of my situation and what the steps they were going to take to resolve my situation. I had a great experience at this office. From the moment you walk it it’s calm and relaxing. Dr. Patterson was very patient and took his time answering all questions . His nurse was also very helpful and informative.
