Tight t-shirts and fitted tops are always in fashion. They showcase a pert bustline and trim waist, but they can also show off lumps and bumps near the bra line. Most women have tried many different bras at different sizes, to no avail. Bra bulge is frustrating and can be difficult to target through diet and exercise. In many cases, cosmetic procedures can be the best option to get rid of bra bulges.
What Causes Bra Bulge?
For some patients, excess weight can create a bra bulge, but often bra bulge isn’t caused by armpit fat or excess weight at all. As we age, we may become less active or have less muscle tone, which can result in sagging and appear to be bra bulge. Weight loss patients can have excess skin and tissue that may present as a bra bulge. A bra bulge is often caused by excess breast tissue that grows along the armpit region or bras without proper support pushing skin and breast tissue out around the straps.
How To Get Rid Of Bra Bulge?
There are a variety of options to treat bra bulges. The procedure you choose will depend on how much time and money you want to commit.
LIPOSUCTION
Liposuction is the fastest and most effective method of getting rid of bra bulges. By removing fatty deposits through tiny, this minimally-invasive surgical treatment is safe and can create flatter contours. With the fat cells removed, the problematic lumps are eliminated. This can be performed in the office under a combination of local and oral sedation in many cases. There is some downtime associated with liposuction, and a compression garment would need to be worn under clothing for a few weeks post-op. However, liposuction is the most predictable method of fat removal and provides the most immediate and dramatic result.
INJECTABLES
For a non-surgical alternative, there is an injectable substance called Kybella. Kybella is a non-surgical approach that breaks down fat cells, which are then excreted through the body’s natural elimination. Developed to eliminate a double chin, Kybella has proven to effectively treat small, localized fat deposits in other areas of the body, line bra-line bulges, and underarm fat.
Kybella is administered in the office, with each treatment taking about 10 minutes. Kybella usually requires two to three injections, about one month apart. The final results can be seen in one or two months. There is very little downtime associate with Kybella treatment.
NON-INVASIVE TREATMENT
Coolsculpting is entirely non-invasive. Coolsculpting is effective on love handles, bra bulges, and other pockets of fat on the body. It uses an applicator that freezes underlying fat cells, which are eliminated in the body in the weeks that follow. There is no pain or downtime with Coolsculpting. Patients can expect to see about a 25% fat reduction in the treated area. Usually, several treatments are needed to get the best result.
