The lip region is one of the most popular areas when it comes to facial aesthetic enhancement. The lips, along with the eyes, are considered the two most beautiful regions of a woman’s or a man’s face. Over time, sun damage, hereditary factors, and smoking can all contribute to loss of lip volume. People with genetically thin lips or cosmetic asymmetries of the lips can benefit from using dermal filler to create a more appealing lip shape and fullness.
Plump, pouty lips are highly sought after among women. One of the injection techniques that patients are looking for is the “Keyhole Lip”. This is where the lips are filled with a small gap in the center of the lips where the top and bottom lip meet that looks like a “keyhole”. This look is also referred to as “the keyhole technique” or “keyhole pout.”
The key (pun intended) to loving this lip filling technique is making it look natural. To help you achieve this look, our injectors typically use hyaluronic acid (HA) products beneath the surface of your lips. Once the treatment is complete, there should be a natural-looking tiny gap between your lower and upper lips. Everyone’s lips are different, so the result won’t look exactly the same for everyone.
Why Keyhole lips?
The keyhole lip is highly sought after because it gives the appearance of a full but natural lip. This lip filler technique can be performed on women of all ages. The most common type of dermal fillers out there are hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvederm. Juvederm Volbella is the newest variation of HA filler that gives your lips a plump but soft appearance.
JUVEDERM
Juvederm is a product created by Allergan, the same company that makes Botox. Juvederm is popular for use in many parts of the face for plumping and to smooth lines and creases. Juvederm Ultra XS is typically used in the lips and last about nine months to a year.
VOLBELLA
Volbella, another member of the Juvederm family, is one of the newer dermal fillers on the market. This filler is preferred by many in the lips due to its softer feel. For most people, Volbella last between 12 and 18 months.
Getting your lips done typically takes about 30 minutes to 1 hour. The injections only take a few minutes but during your appointment you’ll discuss your expectations about how you want your lips to look and have anesthetic applied to the treatment area prior to the procedure.
