What A Bra-Line Back Lift Can Do For Your Figure

After weight loss, many patients find that they are left with excess skin which is uncomfortable and makes it hard to wear clothes or a bathing suit. Fortunately, there are many types of lifting procedures that plastic surgeons can do to refine the shape of the body after weight loss.

A full upper body lift involves lifting the front and back of the upper body. In women, is usually includes a breast lift in the front and an upper back lift. However, some patients find that they only need the upper back lifted, removing the sagging skin around the bra line. This is sometimes called a bra-line back lift. Not all plastic surgeons perform this type of lift. However, Drs. Leveque and Butler do and with excellent results.

The best candidates for this procedure are those that have sagging skin as a result of advancing age, sun exposure or significant weight loss. Both women and men seek out this procedure, however women are more likely to have issues with this area. A bra-line back lift removes the skin on the back that may droop or fold towards the waist line. Some patients may have rolls or loose skin that hang over the waistline of their clothing or folds of skin by the shoulder blades that hang down over the bra. By getting a bra-line back lift, the back and torso areas are smoothed out, leaving patients looking slimmer and more fit.

A bra-line back lift may not be right for everyone. For those with only a small amount of bulge, liposuction may be the better choice. At your initial consultation, your plastic surgeon will talk with you about your goals and recommend the best course of treatment that will help you achieve them.

During a bra-line back lift surgery, a horizontal surgical incision is made at the bra line in order to conceal the scar so that it can be hidden by most bras, swimsuits, and dresses. The length of the incision will be determined by how much skin needs to be removed. Often liposuction is performed at the same time as a bra-line back lift to remove excess fat and obtain even better results.

If you’re interested in a bra-line back lift, any other kind of body lift, schedule a consultation with one of our award-winning, board-certified plastic surgeons at Gulf Coast Plastic Surgery. Dr. Peter Butler or Dr. Jocelyn Leveque will be happy to talk with you, and make sure you are happy with your rear view.

Dr. Leveque performed my tummy tuck and breast augmentation. I am almost two weeks out of surgery and recovering beautifully thanks to the support from her staff and careful care instructions. Leading up to the procedure I was well educated by Dr. Leveque and the staff at GCPS. The surgery itself was just fine, I was well prepared and went home the same day. My incisions are remarkably small! I know they will heal well. My post op visits have also been so helpful. I had initially had a quote from another surgeon and opted to come here. I am so glad that so did.
